HISTORY
1961 - The first visitors were soldiers; they had set up their tent as border patrol. A Dutchman saw the camper and asked Anton Gstrein for a permission to stay overnight. This was the idea to found a camping site. Soon a very modest sanitarian building was built, then "only" was equipped with sinks.
1976 - The sanitarian building was renovated, thus it was made more comfortable and winterise. Initially, only campers came in summer, but a year later as the glacier was opened, also were enthusiastic campers in winter.
1980 - To enlarge the winter range the sanitarian building has expanded for sauna, ski and dishwasher room.
1993 - The entire plant was renovated. From 19th of April up to 23rd of July 2.500m³ rocks were removed, 11.000m³ filling material was delivered, 16km of cable and some kilometres canal have been laid. Thus, the campsite was a pioneer in several innovative and technological renewals, such as using smart cards based access control and billing, from far off consumption data. In the three months rebuilding period were up to 70 employees at the plants.
