OUTDOOR WATERSPORT

Rafting

Rafting downstream on waves, rapids and riffles creates a massive adrenaline rush. This is no sport for hydrophobics, since there is hardly another sport where you really get to know the river.

Family rafting excursion?
Sounds rather funny at first, yet it is possible since rafting is not necessarily a rampant battle with the white water. It can be of course. Abreast with experienced and certified guides you can conquer the action-packed Ötztaler Ache River or the Imst Gorge together with your family. On a more peaceful pirates’ tour young heroes from 4 years of age can get a taste of adventures on the water.

Canyoning

Playing with the elements
Once an exotic sport, nowadays undoubtedly the must-do for outdoor adventurers: Canyoning is a perfect mix of hiking, climbing and abseiling amidst the foaming waterfall into seemingly unknown depths.

Perfectly trained and equipped guides accompany you. You will feel every single muscle of your body despite donning a protective neoprene suit. The Ötztal valley with its different gorges, waterfalls and mountain brooks is perfect for getting in close contact with the wet element or for jumping down from high up. Canyoning is also possible for absolute beginners, but you need to be sure-footed, must not be afraid of the water and willing to try something new.

Our favourites:

For beginners: Rosengartenschlucht Gorge
The tour through Rosengarten gorge includes plenty of water slides (up to four metres), jumps and abseiling spots with a height of three or five metres and thus is perfect for getting a taste of the sport of canyoning.

The classic: Auerklamm
Auerklamm Gorge with its up to 16m-high jumps and many other extreme features provides for a proper adrenaline rush. If you want to, you can spend about five hours in the wilderness.
Different levels of difficulty make it also suitable for the not so brave; even they can report of their thrills back home: Yes, I’ve been there! Auerklamm Gorge ranks amongst Europe’s most beautiful canyoning tours.
For Christ Schnöller too, this tour is one of the absolute favourites: “ If you have already made first experiences – tours so to speak – then I recommend Auerklamm Gorge. It offers all that makes canyoning such an exciting sport; it is an action-packed sport that has been influenced by different sports. High spots for abseiling, narrow swimming passages along eroded rock faces, racy slides and demanding jumps. The unique vegetation along the tour is also noteworthy. I have conquered canyons all over the world, Auerklamm Gorge is still among my favourites.”
