You don’t have to be a professional!

Mountain biking in the Ötztal

The mountain bikers who have not yet been to the Ötztal should do so as quickly as possible. Because if you have to choose between 44 breathtaking tours, you should take plenty of time. You don’t necessarily have to be a professional for the signposted, easy mountain bike tours in the Ötztal with a few meters of altitude, rather the fun and the nature experience counts. All attention – in the high alpine terrain there are also extremely demanding tours which require a certain amount of skill and routine.

Mountain bike tours with high demands

Over 44 challenging bike tours adorn the Ötztal and the breathtaking landscape. Over 874 kilometers of mountain bike trails and single trails with some spectacular scree slopes are waiting to be explored. So your summer holiday in Sölden remains one thing above all else – varied!

But do you prefer more relaxed?

E-biking in the Ötztal

E-biking is the trend in cycling. With relatively little effort and thanks to a small electric motor, even demanding inclines can be conquered more comfortably and easily. This leaves you more time to enjoy the wonderful nature of the Ötztal. No mountain hut and no alpine pasture remains unreachable. But don’t forget this sport, too, requires a basic level of strength and stamina, because the e-bike doesn’t ride by itself either.

Countless e-bike rentals and battery changing stations.

The leisure cyclist can easily charge his battery from Ötz to Obergurgl at all e-bike stations. At the Sölden campsite in the Ötztal, you can of course also borrow e-bikes.

Road cycling in the Ötztal

The Timmelsjoch is a somewhat more demanding route. You have the option of starting your racing bike directly from Camping Sölden. The impressive route up to the toll booth is challenging with its gradients, but also appeals with the fascinating landscape of the Ötztal. Once you have reached your destination, there is a rapid descent on the way back. The more ambitious among you have the opportunity to tackle the approx. 60 kilometer drive to the pass from Ötz.

Ötztal cycling marathon

Once a year, the roads of the Ötztal transform into a unique marathon route for amateur cyclists that you shouldn’t miss. The sporting challenge, which has already developed into an annual ritual, begins right here in Sölden on August 26th.

The 238 km long route continues to Ötz via Kühtai to Innsbruck via the Brenner Pass to Sterzing and over the Jaufen Pass to St. Leonhard in the Passeier Valley. From St. Leonhard it goes up to the Timmelsjoch and from there down again towards Sölden. After 5,500 meters of altitude and “pedaling” for between 7 and 12 hours, most of the participants in the Ötztal Cycle Marathon cross the finish line.
