THE HIKING PARADISE IN THE TYROLEAN ALPS

Summerholidays at Camping Sölden

A summer holiday in the Ötztal is incredibly diverse. The picturesque landscape not only attracts one or the other mountain bike tour, the perfectly groomed network of over 1,600 km of hiking trails also enables a varied vacation. Not to forget the multitude of surrounding 3000m peaks. This turns the entire Ötztal into a hiking paradise at its finest and our campsite an ideal base camp.

Central & individual – a valley of superlatives

Anyone who thinks the Ötztal has nothing to offer has probably never been here. The Wildspitze, the highest mountain in Tyrol, is located in the middle of the Ötztal Alps. Altogether there are 250 3,000 meter high mountains in the valley. In Umhausen you can marvel at the mightiest waterfall in the country and Obergurgl is the highest inhabited church village in Austria. Exactly 99 alpine huts adorn the colorful and species-rich mountain region, whether in summer or winter.

In addition to the outstanding offer, various cultural highlights and events await you, so that neither adventurers, sports fanatics nor nature lovers will miss out. To round off the most beautiful time of the year, you are right in the middle of the action with the Ötztal Card. The most important highlights and special features are included in this menu.

historical overview

The Ötztal has always been in demand, as it seems. Stone Age hunters roamed the high mountains of the Innerötztal 9,000 years ago. This was confirmed in 1991 with the important find by Ötzi, the glacier mummy. But it was not until 550 that the decisive settlement of the Ötztal from the north by the Bavarians took place. The valley was first mentioned in a document from the 12th century: It describes the Ötztal as “Ezital”.

Insider

Temperatures to feel good

The approximately 65 kilometer long alpine valley consists of the communities Sautens, Ötz, Umhausen, Längenfeld and Sölden. Despite the alpine location, the area has a very mild climate. This is primarily due to the Tschirgant, a mountain that protects the valley from the cool north winds and the south winds that warm up when crossing the mountain slopes.

Great place in summer. Clean and centrally located. Mountain railways practically around the corner.
